Composite Veneers – For a Perfect Teeth Appearance!
Composite veneers are one of the most common techniques for resolving tooth imperfections. Due to the results that are visible in a short time, this method is becoming more common day by day. In the following text, you will find out about all the problems it can solve, and generally about the process itself.
What exactly are composite veneers and what are they for?
Composite veneers are essentially very thin flakes made of composite material. They are placed over the already existing teeth, giving them a new, better, more beautiful look.
The thickness of the veneer is about 1 mm and it is modeled directly on the tooth. People who choose composite veneers can completely change their smile.
Composite veneers can solve problems such as:
- Yellow and stained teeth
- Shape and position of teeth
- Worn and broken teeth
As we have already said, composite veneers are very thin flakes, so it is necessary to take care of them and be careful to prevent cracking. The advice of most dentists is to avoid biting hard and tough things. The composite is a good material, but it is a little resistant to pressure, and easily comes to cracking.
Who do you recommend the composite veneers?
The most common question that gets asked is what are the conditions, and how does one become a candidate for veneer attachment? The answer is simple, considering that you only have to be dissatisfied with the appearance of your teeth – 80% OF PEOPLE IN THE WORLD ARE NOT SATISFIED WITH THE APPEARANCE OF THEIR TEETH.
The most common candidates for composite veneers are all those who would like to change the look and color of their teeth without grinding their teeth. And, also, if you have fillings on your front teeth and you notice a difference in the color of the VENEERS composite veneer. People whose teeth have changed color due to alcohol and tobacco are often prone to corrections.
There are also those who do not have any of these problems, but only for aesthetic reasons want to change the position and the appearance of the teeth, and composite veneers will make their smile look fantastic.
Keep in mind that in addition to composite veneers, there are also ceramic veneers that are made of ceramic, and they have better properties than composite veneers. Unlike composite, ceramic veneers are thinner, have exceptional strength, and do not change color. Therefore, they last longer. Both options can make your teeth look whiter and your smile rejuvenated.
Composite or ceramic veneers?
The question that is often being asked while choosing veneers is: “Which one is better, ceramic or composite?”. The answer is not so simple considering that both veneers perform the same function.
Ceramic veneers last longer, adapt more easily to the appearance of other teeth, and they maintain the color longer. Composites are easier to install, they require less grinding, but the item that benefits them the most is the price.
And the price is exactly what favors composite veneers, considering that the price of ceramic veneers is 5 times higher. Ceramic veneers can be finished in a day if they are attached with modern CAD/CAM technology. At the end of the day, which one will you choose depends primarily on you and your preferences.
Is the attachment of veneers painful?
In order to start the attachment process, it is necessary to “prepare the ground” a bit. This means that larger teeth must be ground, so as to bring them into the desired shape. Grinding is not an extremely painful feeling, and it is more within the limits of discomfort since we are talking about grinding up to 0.5 mm.
Grinding as preparation is practically the only part of this process that could cause some minor inconvenience. Everything else is completely painless.
Veneer attachment can be done on one or more teeth, and the price is formed accordingly since it is charged per tooth. The general recommendation is to attach veneers on all visible teeth so that the color would fit more easily.
How to maintain veneers?
In essence, the maintenance of facets or veneers is not that complicated. You should have a soft toothbrush, a mouthwash, and a floss.
You must adhere to the following rules:
- Do not chew ice, and do not bite your nails
- Brush your teeth regularly and use floss
- Let your dentist clean and polish your teeth at least twice a year
- Reduce the consumption of food that can stain the composite (coca-cola, coffee, tea)
- – Avoid biting solid food, such as almonds, carrots, apples, instead, chop them into smaller pieces, and use side teeth for chewing
Caries and tartar are problems that can occur both on the tooth itself, and on the veneered tooth. That is why it is very important to brush your teeth regularly and use mouthwash. We usually advise our patients to use the so-called water dental floss (Waterpik). Proper dental hygiene is half the battle because those who do not take care of oral hygiene often experience tooth decay.
And how much does it cost? …
This is probably the most important question of all. As for the price, we said that composite veneers are more affordable than ceramic ones. We are proud that MND Dental is the first and for now, the only dental practice that offers composite veneer attachment services in Belgrade.
